Hua Hin Attraction Rot-Fai Huahin Hotel (Huahin Train Hotel)
The Bangkok Noi – Huahin railroad was opened in 1911 and later, in 1921, the train was also opened to Malayan passengers. In the same year (1921) King Mongkut Klao ordered coastal land to be explored and sought for the building of a new royal residence replacing Had Luang Chao Samran. His Majesty the King ordered Kam Pang Petch, head of the bureau, as the director of the construction team, to build a European standard hotel. Kam Pang Petch, head of the bureau, finally found land which was the former residence of the Royal Train Bureau, located between the palace of Pra Sri Patchrintra, the Queen and Pra Nares Worarit’s Suk Ves palace (now in Damnern Kasem road). Ricassi, the architect of the project, designed this hotel in the European style, with 2 connected buildings set at a 90-degree angle in a North-South and East-West direction. The lower floor was of steel-reinforced concrete using Italian marble and teak. All doors and windows in the upper floor were wood. |
