Klai Kangwon Hua Hin Palace

Huahin, a very famous vacation destination in Thailand, is well known to Thais and foreigners because of the gracious actions of the Ratanakosin Kings and royal family, starting from the time Huahin Municipality was renamed “Samoh Rieng”.

Later when King Pok Klao (Rama VII) succeeded to the throne on February 25th, 1925, His Majesty gave an order to buy land from Mr. Bua Waidab in Ban Klong Panieng Yai. Besides Prachao Nares Worarit, the servants Bua Waidab and their friends dedicated another part of land to the king for building the palace. His Majesty the King gave about 1,000 baht to the landowner. The project head engineer was M.C. Itthithepsan Kridakorn (Poh), the son of Krom Phra Nares Worarit, who had graduated from L’ ?cole Nationale Des Beaux Arts (National School of Fine Arts), Paris, (some sources said Italy), director of the art institute. Originally the land area was 337 Rai 67 square meters. Later, during the present reign, the King has visited the palace almost every year so land has been bought and buildings constructed. The total area is now around 400 Rai.
